So I’m no pilot but love planes and everything mechanical
My Sister and Brother-In-Law got me an amazing gift for my 50th Birthday, a session in a full on Boeing 737 flight simulator! Wow… Thank you!
I was asked to think of some flights, take-offs or landings id like to do and a few sprang to mind. I wanted to fly eat to west over London into Heathrow, and I wanted to fly into Gibraltar airport – a very tough one… I didn’t expect to be able to land any of them to be honest.
Then, icing on the cake, I wanted to fly into Kai-Tak airport (closed in reality for some time now) to see what approaching the old airport in Hong Kong would have been like… flying past tower blocks, offices and flats toward a mountain marker (called a checkerboard) until a hard right then land on a short runway surrounded on by water on three sides!
The second hardest landing in the world when it was open…
Can I land any of them?? I’m not a pilot, so let’s see how I did!
A huge thank you to Christine and Robert for the amazing gift, and huge thanks to virtual aerospace in Shoreham, England for an extraordinary day!
subscribe for more workshop stuff, more on my Z1000SX and the ongoing audio upgrade project for my F-Type… and for a flight in a Supermarine Spitfire…. All coming soon!!
