Alex Pereira enters Saturday’s UFC 287 main event not only to make the first defense of his middleweight championship but also with the opportunity to fully end his long rivalry with Israel Adesanya. The showdown takes place from Kaseya Center in Miami.
After twice defeating Adesanya during their kickboxing careers, Pereira followed Adesanya’s move to the UFC, where Adesanya had become a dominant champion at 185 pounds. Following three impressive wins inside the Octagon, Pereira was given the opportunity to face his old rival at UFC 281 and once again got the win, stopping Adesanya in the fifth round to claim the championship.

The Miami crowd will also be lively for the night’s co-main event. In a welterweight showdown, Miami’s own Jorge Masvidal will show down with Gilbert Burns, who also fights out of the greater south Florida area. Both men lost previous shots at the welterweight title, which was then held by Kamaru Usman. With Usman having lost his title to Leon Edwards, the winner of this bout could be positioned for a title fight in the near future.
CBS Sports will be with you the entire way on Saturday bringing you all the results and highlights from the UFC 287 below. The main card begins at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN+ PPV following preliminary bouts at 8 p.m. ET.
